New lmage Archiving Process Second to None
LyChron understands the important role imaging data plays in your study success. We recently improved our image archiving capabilities so all images acquired from the fluoroscopes, Faxitron, PET/CT, ultrasound, IVUS, Endoscopy System, and OCT are uploaded to LyChron’s secure network, complete with audit trail/tracking. Data is backed up and archived at a secure offsite location with lossless compression. We guard your data as if it were our own.

Valuable Data from PET and CT Imaging
LyChron is pleased to be the only preclinical CRO to offer state-of-the-art Positron Emission Tomography (PET) for noninvasively studying perfusion and viability in vivo. LyChron currently utilizes Fludeoxyglucose F18 (FDG F 18) and Rubidium (Rb 82) for imaging. PET can be used to assess and quantify regional myocardial blood flow, ventricular function or hypertrophy, and myocardial viability, as well as to quantify tumor growth or reduction in response to a treatment , evaluate perfusion, and identify areas of ischemia or infarction.

CT is a valuable tool for

  • Prescreening for specific anatomy prior to an initial procedure,
  • Verifying model creation prior to treatment,
  • Performing noninvasive interim relooks to assess product performance sooner and reduce need for additional time points, as well as,
  • Confirming device patency immediately post implant. Come by the lab to talk with our PET/CT Technologist about your study design.

Innova 3100 Cath Lab is a Hit with Customers!
The GE Innova 3100 all digital, flat panel cardiovascular and interventional imaging system is proving to be a huge hit with customers! This system makes it possible to clearly visualize small vessels, precisely place stents, and successfully perform a wide range of angiography, cardiac, and neurological procedures, all in one room. With the new equipment, LyChron can provide clients with fluoro and cine data in Dicom format. The Cath Lab features four flat panel monitors and a built-in ComboLab hemodynamic and electrophysiology monitoring system (a combination of the Mac-Lab® IT Hemodynamic System and GE’s CardioLab® IT) with 12-lead ECG capabilities and built-in 64-channel data acquisition for intracardiac electrograms. From an adjacent conference room viewing windows into the Cath Lab and Control Room allow the entire R&D team to participate in a study while simultaneously staying abreast of the happenings back at the office through LyChron’s Wifi network.

New Karl Storz Endoscopy System
LyChron has purchased a Karl Storz state-of-the-art endoscopy tower and a full complement of autoclavable minimally invasive instrumentation (CLICKline® instruments and trocars) for laparoscopic, thoracoscopic, and NOTES/Hybrid minimally invasive procedures, featuring the IMAGE 1® HD system and  AIDA® DVD-M integrated image capture with FULL HD Option.

Image 1® HD offers the highest standard ever for endoscopic imaging – 1080p60. The full HD1080p60  standard (with 16:9 aspect ratio) in this system provides superior depth perception and color contrast, often emulating 3-D views. The AIDA® DVD-M enables surgeons to simultaneously save images, video sequences and audio files directly from live screen mode as well as capture, archive, and network digital video. This system is perfect for developing a minimally invasive technology or exploring minimally invasive alternatives to your project.  To learn more about this equipment from our Sr. Director of Surgical Innovation and Research, please write

Optical Coherence Tomography
LyChron is pleased to have a LightLab Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) system that provides the ability to image intravascularly down to 15 um axial and 40 um lateral resolution. This technology provides engineers and scientists with new ways of assessing the success and impact of novel therapies and devices at LyChron. Contact our scientists to discuss additional preclinical uses for this state-of the art technology at

New Faxitron System Enables High-Resolution X-Ray Imaging
In August 2008, LyChron installed a new Faxitron LX-60 with full digital capabilities at its California facility. The new system enables users to instantly capture high-resolution x-ray images of specimens and medical devices for assessing sample integrity, analyzing fractures, studying device characteristics in situ, and more. LyChron saves results in DICOM format for client review and presentation back at the office. To learn more about this new equipment from a LyChron veterinarian or scientist, please write info@lychron.com.

LyChron Earns OLAW Assurance
As of January 2008, LyChron has an active Office of Laboratory Welfare (OLAW) Assurance on file with the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Clients who already have or want to apply for an NIH or Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant may consult with LyChron’s Chief Scientific Officer, who has years of experience in this arena. To contact him, please write info@lychron.com.
